‘Just a few minutes to switch to a better current account’

WITH A BUSY CAREER AND A BUSY HOME LIFE, LALIA HAD NO TIME TO WASTE WHEN SHE MOVED CURRENT ACCOUNTS…

“It was so easy,” says Laila Chappez. “I opened my new account and told them I wanted to switch. I gave them the information they needed and the new bank took it from there. The switch was complete in seven working days and I did it all from the comfort of my own home.”

Like more than 700,000 people last year, Lalia decided to move to a current account that better suited her needs, and says the whole process was quick and straightforward.

“I had heard of a new account with a different bank that was really good when you travel, which I do. It’s mostly online based and there’s no branch, which I quite liked.”

One thing that reassured her was the Current Account Switch Service Guarantee. It ensures that the new bank switches payments and transfers the balance, then the old bank sorts out closing down the previous account.

So all a switcher like Lalia needs to do is open a new current account and pick a switch date. She says that was very reassuring: “The guarantee was really important, with my wages and things like child benefit getting paid in. It made it really fast and easy to do. And I’ve been notified by some of the direct debits that they’ve received the new bank details, so that was quite reassuring.”

QuiCk and easy

Lalia’s new current account suits her much better and even saves her money. “They offered a really quick and easy way of switching and good fees, especially when I go to see my family in France: I can withdraw money without any fee.

“It was a better fit for me in general.”

The Current Account Switch service is free, easy and guaranteed. And moving to a bank account that meets more of your needs can make a huge difference to your finances. “It’s much easier than people think, and the banks have really put in place a lot since a few years ago,” Lalia says. “It’s really easy and
