With the pandemic bringing lockdown to Wales for a third time, some events that were postponed to 2021 have already been pushed back to next year. Here’s our guide to rescheduled dates and cancellations ....

-

LAST year, when almost every event and gig we had planned was cancelled, we hoped that things might return to some kind of normality in 2021. As time went on we quickly realised this would not be the case. Many have been rescheduled and some have sadly been cancelled.

Many organisers have now revealed rescheduled dates which we have rounded up here for you.

Music ■Dua Lipa

Dua’s Future Nostalgia tour was due to come to Cardiff in June 2020 at the Motorpoint Arena. This was then pushed back to January 2021 before moving the date to later this year.

Original date: June 7, 2020, then rescheduled to January 19, 2021.

New date: September 15, 2021.

■Stormzy

Stormzy will perform in Cardiff as part of his massive world tour.

He was due to perform at the Motorpoint Arena on April 20 after the original date in September last year was postponed.

The date in April has now been rescheduled again but there’s no date in place.

A personal note from Stormzy said: “My G’s – please rest assured, touring the UK & Ireland is incredibly important to me and I can’t wait to give you all the shows you deserve.

“The new tour period will be announced as soon as it’s safe for all involved. In the meantime, I am working on new music and I can’t wait to share it with you. Please stay safe and thank you for your continued patience and support. Love Stormz.”

Original date: September 21, 2020, rescheduled to April 20, 2021.

New date: To be confirmed.

■Little Mix

Little Mix announced exciting details of a new headline UK and Ireland arena tour for 2021 last year.

However, due to the pandemic, the band’s Confetti tour, which was due to start in April, has been pushed back to next year.

They were originally expected to go on a summer tour last year, performing at Cardiff City Stadium which was cancelled.

It will be the band’s first tour without Jesy Nelson who left the group in December. If you couldn’t get tickets for the gig at Motorpoint Arena, then you might be in luck after the band announced an extra date in the capital.

Original date: May 10, 2021. New date: May 2, 2022, plus extra date on May 3, 2022.

German metal band Rammstein were initially due to perform at Wales’ biggest venue – Principality Stadium – in June 2020 but that was postponed by a year. Now it’s been pushed back to 2022.

The original gig would have been the band’s first appearance in Wales for 15 years and their popularity in the country was made obvious when tens of thousands of tickets were snapped up in summer 2019 within hours of going on sale.

The band have a reputation for dramatic stadium performances containing fire and pyrotechnics.

Original date: June 14, 2020, then rescheduled to June 16, 2021.

Further afield, the Pussycat Dolls gig in Llanelli has been permanently cancelled after organisers failed to find a suitable new date for the rearranged show.

The American all-female group were originally due to perform at Parc y Scarlets on Saturday, July 4, last year but the concert was postponed due to the pandemic.

It was hoped that it would be rescheduled for this year but it has now been confirmed that it will not be going ahead as a “suitable date couldn’t be found in the band’s schedule”.

Runs ■The Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay Run

The popular Cardiff Bay run, which attracts thousands of competitors, was scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 23.

Now organisers say due to the “uncertain” situation in Wales the event, which usually attracts more than 5,000 competitors, has been pushed back.

Currently, organisers are unable to give a new date for the event, but they said their “ambition is to deliver the race in September 2021”.
