COUNTY SPEND LESS ON FEES TO AGENTS

-

THE amount spent by clubs in the lower leagues on agents’ fees has revealed Newport County spent £10,000 less in the 12 months to the start of February this year than they did last.

County boss Michael Flynn was able to buy in the loan market and brought in a number of players in both transfer windows this season. Even so, County were 11th ranked on the spending chart on agents.

Promotion-chasing Salford City top the league with £137,000 forked out compared to County’s modest figure of £41,442.

The information, collated by the Football Association, states an intermediary was used in the deals that brought Jack Evans from Swansea, Ryan Taylor from Plymouth, David Longe-King from St Albans City and Dom Telford from Plymouth to Rodney Parade.

The previous year County spent £51,740, although across the clubs there was a downturn in spending of around £100,000 to £1.07m
