A WELSHMAN who walked hundreds of miles across Spain will see his journey documented in a film for Amazon Prime.

Jordan Jones, 33, trekked for 48 days over 612 miles across Spain in the summer of 2015, originally hoping to raise money for homeless exservicemen and women.

Jordan, from Mountain Ash, wrote a book called Somewhere along the way about his experience walking the famous Camino De Santiago route which has now sold more than 10,000 copies and won two awards.

Amazon Prime followed Jordan and two others that he met on his walk to film a documentary which will be out in March next year.

For the documentary they walked across Portugal for 12 days, just a fraction of what he had done back in 2015.

Jordan said the walk marked a significant turning point in his life.

“It was life-changing,” he said. “I’d been in trouble over the years but the walk changed my outlook on life.

“It’s given me a career and a purpose and proved to me that I can do something with my life.”

He also has two other epic expeditions planned with Amazon – hopping on the Trans-Siberian Railway which is the longest railway line in the world, and a walk to Everest base camp.

Jordan originally set about the 612mile walk across Spain to raise money for the Soldiers Off the Street charity based in Rhyl. He eventually raised over £2,000.

“All of the money raised from the original walk was donated to the charity but a percentage of what I make from the documentary will also be donated to the Soldiers Off the Street charity,” Jordan added.

Soldiers Off the Street has been a registered charity since 2010, and is a group determined to help ex-service personnel who have been affected by homelessness.

The famous pilgrimage walk sees thousands of people a year walk the Camino De Santiago route – also known as the Way of St James.

The popular walk crosses the length of Spain, and represented one of the most important Christian pilgrimages during the Middle Ages.

The network of walks is said to lead to the shrine of the apostle Saint James the Great in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in north-western Spain, where tradition holds that the remains of the apostle are buried.

The 33 year-old said: “The walk wasn’t easy but it wouldn’t have been worth it if it was easy.

“I’ve never seen blisters like that before, but I would do it all over again.”
