MS and MP in call for firms to join small business event

-

THE Welsh Labour MS and MP for Ogmore, Huw Irranca-Davies and Chris Elmore, are calling on small businesses across the constituency to get in touch again in the run-up to this year’s Small Business Saturday on December 4.

The annual non-commercial grassroots campaign highlights small business success and encourages consumers to shop local and support small business in their communities.

On the day, customers go out and support all types of small businesses – in stores, online, in offices, wholesalers, family businesses, local shops, business services or small manufacturers. Many small businesses take part in the day by hosting events and offering discounts.

Given the uncertainty the pandemic has brought, Huw and Chris are keen to help highlight the diverse products available via the many small and medium-sized retailers and service providers in Ogmore.

Huw and Chris have been supporting this campaign for a number of years, and in the run-up to this year’s Small Business Saturday would like local small businesses to get in touch and tell them what products and services they have on offer. They will then promote a different small business via social media every day.

Business owners are also being asked to submit a photograph of their local enterprise if they would like to be featured on social media.

Huw Irranca-Davies MS said: “Our local high streets and small businesses have been hit hard because of the pandemic and it’s essential that we do all we can to support them. If you are a small business owner in the Ogmore constituency, please get in touch and so Chris and I can help promote your business via a strong social media campaign.”

Chris Elmore MP said: “We have such a wide variety of small independent businesses across our constituency and Small Business Saturday is a brilliant way for these businesses to reach a new audience.

“Small businesses are the lifeblood of the Ogmore constituency and to say that the last 18 months has been difficult for the small business community is a severe understatement. I’m proud to be able to support them and will always continue to do so.”

In previous years, small businesses from across Ogmore have received prestigious awards, from being invited to a reception at 10 Downing Street to winning Bridgend Business Forum’s Entrepreneur of the Year awards, among others.
