City star’s wife hits out at trolls on social media
SEAN Morrison’s wife has hit out at social media trolls after she was bombarded with unpleasant messages following Cardiff City’s defeat by Swansea City on Sunday.
Jamie Paterson, Joel Piroe and Jake Bidwell found the back of the net for the Swans to hand the Bluebirds their sixth successive Championship defeat.
Cardiff have lost eight of their last nine games in all competitions and the season is rapidly spiralling out of control.
It has left Bluebirds fans furious at the team’s displays of late. However, no matter how bad things get on the pitch, some supporters’ actions off it are inexcusable and can be harmful.
Morrison’s wife Stacey claimed she was inundated with messages from “football fans” after the derby defeat and has had to block the function on her Instagram app in order to get some respite from the trolling.
“I’ve had to turn my messages off for a bit for anyone that I do not follow as I’m having an influx of messages from some wonderfully kind football fans (heavy on the sarcasm),” she wrote on her Instagram story.
“I’ll turn it back on in a week or so, I am not in the right frame of mind to be dealing with these a ******* s right now.”
It is not the first time Stacey, who has
more than 56,000 followers on Instagram, has been subjected to social media abuse following a derby loss.
Back in October 2019, after the Swans had inflicted a 1-0 win over Neil Warnock’s side, she complained that she had been called a “s**g” and a “money-grabbing c***” amid the fallout of that particular defeat.
Morrison himself played the full 90 minutes of Sunday’s clash, returning to the starting XI after suffering a thigh strain before the international break.
The Bluebirds captain is the only Cardiff player to have scored a goal in the club’s last six games.
