DETECTIVES investigating the death of a 21-year-old father-to-be have charged a 24-year-old man with manslaughter.
Keyron Curtis was allegedly assaulted outside the Colliers Arms in Penywaun, Aberdare, just after 1am on Sunday.
Mr Curtis, from Cwmdare, was taken to Cardiff’s University Hospital of Wales where he died.
Daniel Howells-Thomas, of Llwynderi, Penywaun, was also charged with an offence of common assault – which relates to a separate allegation at the same location at approximately the same time, a South Wales Police spokesman said.
Howells-Thomas appeared before Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Detectives are continuing their appeal for information.
They are keen to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of the Colliers Arms at approximately 1am on Sunday.
Officers believe people may have taken footage or photographs of the incident on a mobile phone.
People driving past may also have dashcam footage that can assist their investigation.
Police are asking anyone with footage to submit it at https://mipp.police.uk/ operation/62SWP21B40-PO1

A police statement said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who may have taken footage or photographs of the incident on a mobile phone or may have dashcam footage around that time.”
On Wednesday, as reported in the Echo, the family of Mr Curtis paid tribute to him.
In a statement they said: “Keyron was a friendly, easy-going family boy with a heart of gold.
“He was loved by us all and always put other people before himself.
He was to become a father in a few weeks and would have been a great dad.
“He will be sorely missed by all of his family and friends.”
