FAIRWATER Cons have extended their lead in the Cardiff & District Snooker League (sponsored by Trecenydd Snooker Club) after a 5-0 win away to new boys Mackintosh Snooker.

Ben Griffiths, Twm Jones, Steffan Davies, Steve Flanagan and Terry Garland all won to maintain the champions’ perfect start to the season.

Mackintosh remain in second after recording the result of the week with a 3-2 win away to 2019 winners Savoy. Jason Hewett ensured they got off to a strong start with a win over Lee Greening and they extended their lead to 3-0 with wins for Alan Hurley and Ronnie Allen, but Dave Hurn and Jason Summerhaye­s both won for the Barry side to ensure a close result.

Canton Libs are off the mark after winning 3-2 at RBL Warriors following their bye in the first week after Taff’s Well B’s withdrawal. Wins for Ed Topham, Luke Haines and Declan O’Callaghan sealed the win for Canton, but Chris Johnson and Syed Moshin Kazmi won the last two frames for the Warriors to register their first points of the season.

Cathays Cons’ impressive start to the season continued after a 3-2 win against Rumney British Legion, although they had to come from behind after Andy McGill won the opener against Mike Rathkey.

Dave Earls and Dave Standage then both won before Tony Parkin levelled things up, but Darren Gill won the decider to move them up to joint-third with Cuesaders Z who won 3-2 at Trecenydd Snooker with wins for Ryan Bowgen, Dave Reynolds and Bill Bainton.
