Staffy crossbreed poses with pups after ‘dramatic’ start to life

-

A STAFFY crossbreed has given birth to seven gorgeous puppies after a tough start to life.

At the beginning of November, Llanharan-based animal shelter, Hope Rescue, received an emergency call from Staffy crossbreed Eira’s owners.

Eira had gone into labour and they needed help with the process so staff at Hope Rescue quickly whipped her back to the rescue centre.

Before they could though, she had already given birth to one pure white puppy.

Quickly after arrival, Eira gave birth to six more, making five boys and two girls.

In a statement on Facebook, Hope Rescue said: “We are so grateful to Eira’s previous owners for reaching out for help and will make sure that all of them are looked after before going on to their forever homes, when they are ready.”

Nicknamed “Eira’s little snowflakes”, the puppies all passed multiple health checks and have been settling in well while Eira has been a model mother.

In a more recent post, Hope Rescue said: “After a dramatic start to life Eira and her seven puppies are continuing to do well.

“Eira’s owners called for assistance with Eira after she had gone into labour that morning, the team rushed out and were greeted by one little puppy, once back at the centre she safely delivered another six.

“They are two weeks old today and have all opened their eyes ready to begin exploring the world. Eira has been a perfect mother and is such a sweetheart.”

The puppies are all white with the odd smudge of brown like their mum. It is too soon to tell what they are crossed with.

The puppies already have a wealth of admirers, with the post already having over 100 comments.

One said: “Eira looks like a youngster herself, bless her and her babies, I hope they all find cosy couches and folks who love them, especially Eira after having to babysit all them puppies.”
