Excitement as Gavin and Stacey stars return to Barry
GAVIN and Stacey stars Alison Steadman and Larry Lamb have been spotted filming at Barry Island.
But fans hoping for a return of the hit sitcom won’t be breaking out the bubbly just yet.
The stars – who play key characters Mick and Pam Shipman – have been snapped outside Marco’s Cafe and at the beach huts.
Following the lives of Gavin Shipman and Stacey West, who fall in love and navigate their relationship between Stacey’s home of Barry and Gavin in Essex, Gavin and Stacey remains one of the best-loved sitcoms of the past generation. There have been three seasons of the show and Christmas specials, the most recent of which aired in 2019.
The 2019 Christmas special ended on a dramatic cliffhanger as Nessa Jenkins asked Smithy to marry her and viewers did not get to find out his answer.
Now Larry and Alison have been spotted filming at Barry Island.
However, it is understood they are filming a documentary for the ITV show DNA Journey.
ITV has been contacted for a comment about the filming.
Alison’s agent was also contacted for comment and said: “Unfortunately we are unable to comment at this time.”
While they may not have been filming for the popular BBC series, Larry and Alison were clearly loving being back at Barry Island.
They posed for pictures with fans and with merchandise from local shop Barrybados.
Many fans were speculating about the return of Gavin & Stacey, commenting on pictures of Larry and Alison at the island.
One said: “Filming??? Are they being sneaky and filming Gavin and Stacey ????? Please, please, please.”
Another said: “Hope this means what I think it means.”
