CARDIFF City have announced the signings of Vontae DaleyCampbell from Leicester City and Mahlon Romeo from Millwall.

Right-back Campbell joins the Bluebirds on a free transfer and has penned a three-year deal in south Wales and was quickly joined by fellow full-back Romeo.

They become Steve Morison’s sixth and seventh signings of the summer, following the captures of Ebou Adams, Jak Alnwick, Ollie Tanner, Jamilu Collins and Callum O’Dowda.

The 21-year-old Campbell joined the Foxes from Arsenal’s academy in 2019. He spent the second half of last season on loan with Dundee.

He has represented England up to under-19 level.

“I got a call from my agent saying that Cardiff City were interested and I just knew that it was a club I wanted to go to, so I kept in contact, managed to sort something out and I’m happy about it,” he revealed.

“You can expect a hard-working full-back who likes to get forward a lot and wants to assist as many goals as he can. I can’t wait to play in front of the fans and really try my hardest for the team.”

Morison added: “We’re really excited. We wanted lots of options and he’s a really interesting young player.

“He comes with really good pedigree.

“He needs to make the most of his attributes and hopefully we can help him do that.

“Every single person who has walked through the door wants to be a part of it. It’s going to go a long way for us.”

The move to south Wales sees the Antiguan international Romeo reunited with former Millwall team-mate and current Cardiff boss Morison, and also brings an end to a seven-year spell in south London, where he made 221 appearances.

He spent last season loan League One side Portsmouth, where he made 41 appearances during an impressive campaign.
