AN ADDICT going through a druginduced psychosis launched a horrifying sex attack on a woman. Alex Williams, of Beddau, near Llantrisant, told his victim he could “perceive her vibrating” before sexually assaulting her.

Cardiff Crown Court heard the 30-year-old also hit the woman with a baseball bat and also attacked a second woman with a whiskey bottle when she tried to intervene.

The defendant had been taking cocaine before he sexually assaulted his victim and made a series of worrying and threatening comments.

A sentencing hearing on Tuesday was told Williams had been using cocaine when he carried out the offence and went on to smash the victim’s iPhone. He attacked her with a broken chair leg which he used to hit her foot.

He also attacked the woman, who has lifelong anonymity, with a baseball bat which he used to hit her over the top of her head.

The defendant then smashed plug sockets, light extensions and a hairdryer.

Prosecutor Alex Greenwood said Williams made threats to kill the victim and assaulted her by hitting her to her legs with the bat.

Another woman went to check on the victim and asked the defendant: “What the hell are you doing?”

The barrister said: “The defendant then ran at [the victim] with the bat raised. The woman challenged him and told him, ‘You’re not f ****** touching her, you’ll have to go through me’, and positioned herself over [the victim]. That persisted for half an hour and [the woman] screamed for help. He shouted, ‘I want my cocaine’ and said ‘I’m going to kill her’.

“He picked up a bottle of Jameson’s whiskey and directed it at [the woman’s] head.”

Williams was arrested and denied causing the injuries to the two women, but claimed he “behaved inappropriately in drink” and was doing 2g of cocaine at a time.

He referred to the fact he had ADHD, anxiety and depression and had previously been sectioned.

The defendant, of Liddon Court, pleased guilty to assault by penetration, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault by beating, affray and criminal damage.

Defence barrister Robin Rouch said his client, a father, had been a user of drugs for many years which affected his mental health.

He added: “He’s determined to use his time in custody constructively and does not want to return to that lifestyle.”

Judge Timothy Petts told the defendant he experienced what seemed to be psychotic symptoms. He sentenced Williams to a total of 48 months’ imprisonment.
