Band cancel concert planned for Cardiff Bay while other events move venue

-

SIMPLY Red have cancelled their upcoming Cardiff gig at Cardiff Bay’s Alexandra Head this summer, while Lewis Capaldi and Primal Scream’s concerts, also originally planned for the venue, have been moved.

Simply Red’s gig was due to be played next Thursday, however ticket sellers Ticketmaster have now listed the gig as no longer going ahead.

The Cardiff date has also been removed from the band’s tour schedule on their website.

No reason has yet been given for the cancellation.

The gig was due to form part of the “Bay Series” – Wales’ new premier concert series that seeks to bring together music, food and culture over six days in Cardiff Bay.

The events were due to take place in a custom-built, open-air site.

Primal Scream and Lewis Capaldi were also set to prepare to take the stage at the new Bay site, however, these events are now being advertised to take place at Cardiff Castle.

Among the raft of changes, the Lewis Capaldi gig, which was due to be played on Wednesday, July 20, has been moved to July 21.

The Primal Scream event is still going ahead on Friday, July 22 as planned.

There are still tickets available for both the Lewis Capaldi and Primal Scream events.

Live Nation and The Bay Series have been approached to comment on these changes and why they have occurred, but they have yet to respond.

Live Nation did confirm to us that the Capaldi and Primal Scream concerts had moved venue. Also, support for Primal Scream, Peter Hook, will now be doing a DJ set rather than a live set, the former New Order and Joy Division bassist confirmed on his official Twitter.

There are several DJ events also taking place across the week at Alexandra Head. Chase & Status, Wilkinson, Shy FX and more will play tonight, and Camelphat, Patrick Topping, Alan Fitzpatrick will play tomorrow.
