How they rated

- BY GLEN WILLIAMS

ETHAN HORVATH

Made a fantastic early save from Emmanuel Latte Lath and also kept out Luke Thomas’s well-hit shot.

MAHLON ROMEO

Produced a couple of big blocks and interceptions early on. Didn’t get forward a great deal.

DIMITRIOS GOUTAS

As solid as we’ve come to expect from the big Greek. Sent a close-range header over the bar early on and then had a good headed chance tipped on to the post after the break.

NAT PHILLIPS

Like his defensive partner, couldn’t attribute any of Boro’s four goals to him.

OLLIE TANNER

His left foot was a good option for City, whipping crosses in at will. Be interesting to see if this experiment continues next season.

MANOLIS SIOPIS

Has improved as this season has gone on. Put in a decent enough display before coming off.

JOE RALLS (CAPT)

Nothing flashy from the skipper but put in some big tackles and always showed for the ball.

JOSH BOWLER

Danced around a few defenders early doors and looked dangerous without that end product. Did manage to sweep home in injury time.

CIAN ASHFORD

The golden boy of last week. Struggled to really get into it early on, with the ball bouncing off him once or twice, but grew in confidence and had a few moments late on.

FAMARA DIEDHIOU

Allowed Matt Clarke to get in around the back of him for his goal. Struggled to keep hold of the ball when it was pinged to him.

STAR MAN DAVID TURNBULL

Looked neat and tidy on the ball once again. Hit an audacious 35-yard effort early on which was tipped over. Put in some lovely crosses for Goutas, too. Decent outing.

SUBSTITUTES

Raheem Conte (Romeo 57) 6 Looked decent off the bench. Adds pace which is nice to see. An unexpected bonus in recent weeks.

Joel Colwill (Siopis 57) 6 A Championship debut for the teenager. Looked more than capable and showed a good range of passing.

Callum Robinson (Diedhiou 67) 6 Was pretty lively after coming on. Sent one header wide before setting up Bowler for his goal.

Ryan Wintle (Ralls 67) 5 Kept play ticking over as well as he could in the middle. Luey Giles (Tanner 77) 5 A second Championship outing for the left-back and looked OK. Didn’t have a great deal to do.

Subs: Turner, Lawlor, Giles, Antwi, Sawyers.

MIDDLESBROUGH

Dieng; Ayling, van den Berg (Dijksteel 74), Clarke, Thomas; Howson (McCabe 61), Barlaser; Jones (Silvera 61), Azaz, Gilbert (Lennon 74); Latte Lath (Matthews 82). Subs: Connor, Bangura, O’Brien, Greenwood.
