Two arrested after police seize cannabis worth £30,000

POLICE in Carmarthen­shire have found and seized more than £30,000 worth of cannabis after smelling it while walking past a house.

Officers from Dyfedpowys Police were on foot patrol in the village of Hendy, Llanelli, when they noticed a “strong smell” coming from a house in Iscoed Road.

Upon searching the property, they found a large number of mature cannabis plants, a quantity of herbal cannabis, and a number of large growing tents.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of the production of cannabis in connection with the discovery.

Llwynhendy Sergeant Gemma Davies, of Dyfedpowys Police, said neighbourh­ood policing teams would continue to “disrupt and deal with offenders” and “prevent drugs from entering the supply chain”.

A spokeswoma­n for Dyfed-powys Police said: “Officers on foot patrol in Hendy on Friday afternoon, July 10, noticed a strong smell of cannabis coming from a property in Iscoed Road. Six large growing tents were discovered inside the property.

“50 mature cannabis plants have been seized along with herbal cannabis.

“Two males, aged 40 and 18 were arrested on suspicion of the production­s of cannabis.
