Extra session of help for county’s young jobseekers

-

NEATH Port Talbot Council’s Communities for Work Plus team is set to host a virtual careers fair for young people aged 16 to 24.

The fair is to take place between noon and 3.30pm on Wednesday via Microsoft Teams.

Following the success of its first virtual jobs fair in June, the team is holding a second fair for young people living in Neath Port Talbot who are interested in finding out more about career opportunities, training courses, voluntary work and starting a business.

Those who attend will be able to listen to guest speakers from a range of organisations followed by the chance to ask questions.

Guest speakers confirmed to attend include: Communities for Work; NPT Council for Voluntary Service; The Council’s Youth Service; NPTC Group of Colleges; Skills and Training; SFM Training; Careers Wales; Big Ideas Wales; Cam Nesa; Kyle Rees (local actor from Outlander TV series); The Royal Engineer Reserves; The Prince’s Trust; TSW Training; Adult Community Learning.

The fair is being held on Microsoft Teams an online communication platform that enables people to chat and organise video meetings.

To join the fair, you will need to download the Microsoft Teams app onto your computer, tablet device or mobile phone in advance. You will then be able to access the fair on the day using shorturl.at/sxad5.

Councillor Annette Wingrave, cabinet member for regeneration and sustainable development, said: “Following on from the success of the first Virtual Jobs Fair, I am delighted that we are able to announce our second fair aimed at young people living in Neath Port Talbot.

“It is so important that young people are able to get access to the right information and advice when trying to decide on a suitable career path for themselves. It is also a great opportunity to ask questions directly to organisations that could help with their decision making.”

Communities for Work is a Welsh Governmentfunded programme delivered by Neath Port Talbot Council to help those who need extra help and support to find work and can help individuals who are not only unemployed but parttime or zero hour contract workers looking for a change in career.
