THE Rhian Brewster transfer saga has taken a fresh twist.

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has rubbished claims that his side have offered Liverpool £19million plus add-ons for the striker.

The forward has been the subject of fierce transfer interest this summer following his hugely successful loan stint at Swansea City last term.

The 20-year-old netted 11 times in 22 appearances for Steve Cooper’s side, who reached the Championship’s play-offs in dramatic fashion.

Having returned to Merseyside in the summer, Jurgen Klopp has been able to cast his eye over the frontman ahead of the 2020-21 season.

Swansea had been keen to secure a second loan for Brewster, although the Reds have assessed a number of options for the England Under-17s World Cup winner.

Sheffield United recently contacted Liverpool over the young forward, although Sky Sports reported on Monday that Palace had made an offer to sign Brewster on a permanent basis.

It said Palace have offered a transfer sum worth around £25m once add-ons are included, with Liverpool set to have a buy-back clause for a fee of £37m as part of the deal.

However, Parish has taken to Twitter to quash the transfer rumours.

“We have asked Sky to take this down as it is a total fabrication from start to finish,” he wrote on his official account.

“We have not made a bid formal or informal.”

Brewster featured in Liverpool’s pre-season matches against RB Salzburg and Stuttgart before coming on as a late substitute in their Community Shield loss to Arsenal at Wembley, with the striker missing a spot-kick in the penalty shootout.

The Englishman was not included in the Liverpool squads for their Premier League triumphs over Leeds United or Chelsea.

This comes after Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder publicly stated the Blades had approached Liverpool over a potential deal for Brewster.

On Friday, he said: “Rhian is one we have talked about and talked to Liverpool about.

“We’re looking to bring another one in at the top end of the pitch.”

Cooper is still keen to add another striker to his ranks, but admitted after the weekend draw with Birmingham that Swansea were not close to getting a deal done.

And with Liverpool now seeming set to cash in on Brewster – the Premier League champions signed Wolves frontman Diogo Jota for £41m on Saturday – it looks like Swansea will finally have to admit defeat on their hopes to bring him back to the Liberty for a second stint.
