Morgan makes Glamorgan exit
GLAMORGAN have released all-rounder Owen Morgan.
The 26-year-old has not been offered a new contract and he departs after a sixyear spell with the Welsh county.
Swansea-born Morgan made 21 firstclass appearances for Glamorgan and scored one century.
That came in 2016 against Worcestershire when he became the first nightwatchman in the county’s history to reach three figures.
Director of cricket Mark Wallace said: “It’s always a shame when a player leaves the club and especially one as popular and dedicated as Owen.
“Everyone at the club wishes him the very best for the future.”
Meanwhile, Nick Selman hopes he has laid down a marker for the future after he played a starring role in Glamorgan’s Vitality Blast win over Worcestershire on Sunday.
The opener scored 78 off just 53 balls as Glamorgan successfully chased down a victory target of 191 in the final over.
He shared a stand of 120 for the first wicket with David Lloyd before Dan Douthwaite clubbed three sixes in the final over to see the visitors home with six wickets in hand.
Selman said: “It was to get a few and get the boys over the line.
“As a team we were pretty pugnacious and it was really good to get a win and the boys were really happy.
“It was a pretty good wicket but myself and David knew if we could get off to a good start, then it was going to be a little bit easier.
“It has been frustrating not playing consistently (in T20 cricket).
“I personally think it is one of my better formats even though I play a lot of red ball cricket.
“It was good to get a few and prove I can play in this format and hopefully in the future I can firstly start and be more consistent as well.”
Glamorgan’s win meant they finished fifth in their six-team group with four wins fron their 10 matches.
