Andrew has worked in the construction industry for 15 years, working for several local companies as an independent, sub-contracted, self-employed carpenter, prior to him joining J.G. Hale Construction.

Of the new opportunity, Andrew Claridge, trainee site manager, said: “I had been considering making the move into a managerial role for some time, when I noticed that J.G. Hale Construction was looking for a trainee site manager. Within 12 hours of me handing in my CV, I was offered the position, so it has all happened very quickly.

“I can’t thank the company enough for what they have already done for me. Only four months in and I’ve already got the SMSTS and Scaffolding Inspection courses under my belt, and the help I’ve been given by Andrew Collins and Shayne Price, on site, has been brilliant. I look forward in getting more courses under my belt and progressing my career a lot further with Hale.”

In his new role at J.G. Hale Construction, Andrew will work in close collaboration with clients to manage sites, ensuring works are completed on time and safely, while following the latest government guidelines on social distancing.

The two-year apprenticeship course, which has been started by Jay Hale, James Thomas, Lewis Ralph and Josh Norris will mix classroom training with on the job experience, learning a number of skills in the process.

As well as the new apprentices and trainee manager, the construction company has also welcomed seven new work experience placements and a new forklift driver, all will be based on site at Brecon and Llandrindod wells.

Andrew Collins, contracts manager at J.G. Hale Construction, said: “It is fantastic to be able to welcome new personnel into the company, especially after the challenging times we have seen in the economy.

“Building skills are in demand and we are always investing in the talent of the future.”
