Bale in the picture at Spurs training

-

GARETH Bale is ramping up his return to fitness as Tottenham’s new recruit has been pictured training at their Enfield HQ for the first time.

Bale’s arrival last month sent Spurs fans into frenzy, with Daniel Levy managing to pull off the unlikeliest of deals to bring the Welshman back to north London on a season-long loan deal.

Supporters knew, though, that they would have to wait for some time before they saw Bale run out at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a Spurs shirt, owing to a knee injury.

But fans were given a little boost on Tuesday when Spurs boss Jose Mourinho revealed the 31-year-old would potentially be available to make his second debut for the club against West Ham on October 17.

And supporters will be brimming with glee now they have seen the player’s recovery in full flow, with the Welshman being put through his paces on Thursday morning as he steps up his recovery.

Bale also tweeted the short message “working hard” alongside the pictures.

He was left out of the Wales squad for next week’s clashes with England, the Republic of Ireland and Bulgaria as he looks to improve his fitness.

“We had conversations both with Gareth and the medical team and he’s just not right for this camp unfortunately,” boss Ryan Giggs said.

“It [the injury] was picked up in the first game, and then he played the second game and it was fine.

“But then after the 90 minutes against Bulgaria, he just felt it a little bit. It’s nothing serious, but it’s just one to keep an eye on.

“It’s just taken a bit of time to settle down and he’s just not quite right.”

Giggs and Mourinho, as well as fans of both Wales and Tottenham, will doubtless be pleased to see Bale taking his first steps to recovery.

Bale was pictured with a beaming smile on his face, which he has had for the majority since sealing his temporary switch from Real Madrid, and it’s a feeling which appears to be shared by fans.

In response to the pictures, which were tweeted out by Spurs’ official account, floods of supporters voiced their excitement at seeing their marquee signing out on the training.

“I am very in love,” one responded. While another said: “This made me smile!”
