Star kicks off summer tour with park gig
OLLY Murs is bringing his summer tour to Wales next year with three outdoor dates.
The singer will be kicking the tour off at Swansea’s Singleton Park on Saturday, June 5, before heading to Cardiff Castle on Wednesday, July 21.
A third Welsh tour date is also set for Friday, August 13, when he will perform at Stadiwm Zipworld in Colwyn Bay.
The dates are part of a tour made up of open-air shows at castles, racecourses and numerous outdoor spaces across the country.
Fans can expect to hear some of the pop singer’s most popular hits, including Troublemaker, Dance With Me Tonight and Dear Darlin’.
Since coming second on The X Factor in 2009, the 36-year-old has gone on to release four number one albums.
More recently he has become a familiar face as one of the coaches on BBC singing competition, The Voice.
Tickets for his upcoming tour go on sale at 9am on Friday, October 9 via Ticketmaster or AXS.
It has still been a busy year for Olly, who recently captained England in this year’s Soccer Aid.
Olly’s Singleton Park date is part of the one day, family-friendly music festival, DEPOT in the Park, which first took place in Cardiff’s Sophia Gardens back in 2017.
DEPOT in the Park is organised by the liveevents arm of Cardiff’s DEPOT venue, who also run Cardiff’s one-day summer festival DEPOT in the Castle.
Cllr Robert FrancisDavies, Swansea Council’s cabinet member for investment, regeneration and tourism, said: “Swansea Council is delighted to be working with DEPOT to announce this good news today.
“Singleton Park is a fantastic location for live, outdoor music events and these are always well attended by Swansea residents as well as visitors from further afield.
“The current pandemic has been a devastating blow to the events sector which has not even started to return to business yet.
“The hospitality sector has been able to re-open but within constrained operating circumstances in line with government guidelines, but has now suffered once again, by local lockdowns.
“The safety of our residents is paramount, and any programme of activities will need to be in accordance with government guidelines at the time.
“However, we are all looking forward, optimistically to next year when hopefully the hospitality and events sectors will be on the path to recovery.
“DEPOT bringing Olly Murs to Swansea is a great asset to our recovery plan, which includes an exciting events programme for next year.
“This will be a tremendous boost for our residents, tourism businesses and for welcoming our visitors back to Swansea once again.”
