Striker Lowe aims to be the main man against the Lions

JAMAL Lowe says Swansea City will be confident, but not complacent, as they look to continue thewir unbeaten start at home to Millwall at the Liberty Stadium today (3pm).

The Swans have begun their Skybet Championship campaign well, having beaten Preston and Wycombe either side of a home draw with Birmingham.

Gary Rowett’s Lions are also unbeaten, claiming victory over Rotherham and drawing against Stoke and Brentford.

The former Wigan man opened his Swans account for his new club with a close-range finish in the weekend win over Wycombe, which saw Steve Cooper’s side keep another clean sheet.

“The mood in the dressing room is positive, obviously we’ve still got work to do and you can never get too complacent,” said Lowe,

“But, as a start it has been pretty good, we’re three games in and we haven’t conceded a goal yet, and seven points from nine is a very good record.

“As a team we just want to carry this on now, we don’t want to take our foot off the gas. We want to get a run going and stamp our authority on the league.”

And that’s an emotion shared by manager Cooper, who said he has been encouraged by how his side has started gelling after a short pre-season which has seen five new signings added to the squad.

“It’s not just the front three, we have Korey Smith in midfield who is new, and the three guys at the back had not played as a three together before this season.

“We have all been getting going now, we are a few weeks in and you should see some consistency and building in terms of our work.

“But we are not quite where we want to be yet, and that’s because of time. We have used the week to try and get ready for the game while building the levels of our play.

“I feel that will stand us in good stead for Saturday, and then there is an international break we need to make the most of.”

But Cooper admits Swansea still m ake things to improve on.

“If you look at how things are, in terms of the timescale of when we started pre-season to where we are now, typically this would be the point at which the season

would be starting,” he said.

“Obviously, it has been a shorter turnaround this year and it means we have played three league games before the point where the season would normally start.

“So, to be unbeaten in those three league games and to have not conceded a goal yet, in these circumstances, means we have to be pleased.

“But we have a really tough game coming up against Millwall and we

have to be even more prepared.

“We cannot rest on anything, there are loads of things we can improve on.”

Meanwhile, Swansea defender Marc Guehi has been named in the England Under-21 squad for their European Championship qualifiers against Andorra and Turkey.

Andre Ayew, meanwhile, has been included in the Ghana squad for their games against Mali and Equatorial Guinea.
