MANCHESTER United suffered one of the worst defeats of their recent history as they were hammered 6-1 by Tottenham at Old Trafford.

Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring with a second-minute penalty, but United were behind just five minutes later as Tanguy Ndombele and Heung-min Son both scored.

Anthony Martial was controversially sent off after clashing with Erik Lamela before Jose Mourinho’s visitors took complete control. Son added another, Harry Kane netted twice and Serge Aurier was also on target.

Arsenal scored two second-half goals to leave Sheffield United without a point.

Bukayo Saka and Nicolas Pepe struck to seal a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Blades, with David Mcgoldrick scoring a fine consolation for the visitors.

Dominic Calvert-lewin celebrated his first call-up to the England squad by scoring in his fourth successive Premier League match as Everton beat Brighton 4-2.

The 23-year-old netted his ninth goal of the season with a first-half header.

But it was a less impressive afternoon for Jordan Pickford, who flapped at Leandro Trossard’s volley and allowed Neal Maupay to haul the Seagulls back on level terms.

Pickford’s blushes were spared by Yerry Mina’s first Goodison Park goal six minutes later, then James Rodriguez scored twice after halftime before Yves Bissouma volleyed an injury-time consolation for the visitors.

Ben Chilwell scored one and set up another as he started his Chelsea career in style in a 4-0 win over Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.

The £45million signing from Leicester drilled home the opener after 50 minutes following a neat Tammy Abraham flick-on, then laid on the cross from which Kurt Zouma headed his side’s second.

Two Jorginho penalties within the space of four minutes late on gave Chelsea an emphatic win.

Leeds and Manchester City shared the spoils after a 1-1 draw at a rain-lashed Elland Road.

City dominated the opening exchanges but only had Raheem Sterling’s 17th-minute strike to show for their efforts.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men grew in confidence and created plenty of chances of their own. Their equaliser arrived midway through the second half when Ederson made a mess of collecting a Kalvin Phillips corner and Rodrigo swept the ball into an empty net.

Callum Wilson scored twice to seal a 3-1 win for Newcastle over Burnley at St James’s Park.

Allan Saint-maximin had given the Magpies a 14th-minute lead but Sean Dyche’s side drew level through a fine volley from Ashley Westwood.

Michail Antonio was on the scoresheet again away from home for West Ham as they brushed aside a lacklustre Leicester 3-0 at the King Power Stadium.

The 30-year-old opened the scoring early on and became the first Hammers player to score in five consecutive top-flight away matches since Mike Small in 1991.

Pablo Fornals doubled the lead and Jarrod Bowen added some shine to the victory late on.

Southampton secured their second league win of the season with a 2-0 victory over West Brom at St Mary’s. Moussa Djenepo put Southampton ahead on the brink of half-time. Oriol Romeu volleyed into the back of the net in the second half to double the advantage.

Pedro Neto’s goal gave Wolves a 1-0 win over Fulham.
