SWANSEA Bay University Health Board (UHB) has appointed a new Chief Executive to take over from Tracy Myhill when she retires at the end of the year.

Mark Hackett will take up post in early January 2021.

He will bring with him more than 20 years of experience as an NHS Chief Executive, as well as experience of system leadership roles in the NHS in England and of healthcare consultancy.

Mr Hackett said: “I am thrilled to have been appointed as the new Chief Executive and am looking forward to taking up post in the New Year.

“I know I am joining at an exciting time for the organisation, following its recent de-escalation from Targeted Intervention.

“There are many opportunities and challenges ahead to improve health services and population health and wellbeing. I have already been struck by the commitment and dedication of the Health Board’s staff and of its partners.

“I am really looking forward to joining and being part of the team.”

Emma Woollett, Chair of Swansea Bay University Health Board, said: “I am delighted to be announcing Mark’s appointment.

“His depth of experience in successfully leading large and complex healthcare organisations makes him well placed to take Swansea Bay UHB forward.”

She added: “I am very grateful to Tracy Myhill for her ongoing leadership of the Health Board, and to her and Mark for their shared commitment to supporting a smooth transition.”
