City again has most new cases

ONE more person has died with coronaviru­s in Wales but the overall infection and test positivity rates remain well below key Welsh Government benchmarks.

The latest daily update from Public Health Wales (PHW) yesterday, recorded 142 new positive cases in the last 24-hour period, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 206,795.

The number of people who have died with coronaviru­s in Wales within a month of a positive test now stands at 5,455.

The infection rate across Wales is now 40 cases per 100,000 of population based on the seven days up to March 11, a rise from the figure of 39.1 reported on Monday but still well below the key Welsh Government benchmark of 50.

The latest data also shows that Wales has administer­ed another 16,935 first doses of a Covid-19 vaccine and another 8,728 second doses.

The data shows that 1,139,866 people have now received a first dose and a further 272,983 have had both jabs.

Swansea saw the highest number of new cases reported with 19 followed by Flintshire with 15 and Anglesey and Newport with 11 each.

All other local authoritie­s reported less than 10 cases including Carmarthen­shire with nine, Neath Port Talbot with eight and Powys with one.

Both Denbighshi­re and Ceredigion reported no new cases in the last 24 hours.

March - Schools and colleges given grading guide, assessment materials and training. Early June (no exact date) - Pupils told their expected exam results and can ask for them to be looked at again before they are submitted by teachers who assessed them. June 14-July 2 - Centre Determined Grades submitted Aug 10 - A-level and AS results day Aug 12 - GCSE results day Aug 24 - to Sept 21 final appeals period

What about pupils in years 10 and 12? Pupils in Year 12 will be awarded centre determined grades to recognise work done, but that will not contribute to their final grades in 2022.

For learners in Year 10 due to complete a qualificat­ion this year the CDG will apply, but it won’t apply to learners due to take individual units of assessment.
