Make sure you also have a regular check-up

-

I have just realised that I’ve been contributing to the local newspapers since June 2014.

I am slightly surprised by the fact that I continue to come up with new ideas and stories on a weekly basis, especially as I haven’t been out much to do my usual ‘people watching’ lately.

I just happened to be approached and accepted the challenge in my usual enthusiastic way. Having said that, I now get a great deal of positive feedback in my inbox on a weekly basis, and it is lovely to know that readers are gaining some pleasure from my work.

Even my doctor commented recently, which totally threw me as he was carrying out my first ever prostate examination at the time.

My reply was quite high pitched.

Not the conversation I was expecting and not that I have a prostate issue - but I’m at the age where regular check-ups are advisory.

If you are male and of a mature age then make sure you also have a regular check up of anything that might be worrying you.

You can thank me later.

SWANSEA City Council Youth Hub development officers are continuing to work with young people throughout lockdown.

The teams, supported by partners YMCA and Barod, are out and about in the city five nights a week making the spaces and places where young people spend time safer.

In normal times they are busy arranging activities for young people within youth clubs and centres across Swansea.

But since the current restrictions have been in place they have taken to the streets this winter to support young people as well as meeting them online.

Cllr Elliott King, Swansea Council’s cabinet member for children services, said: “Due to restrictions youth clubs have had to temporarily close, however with lockdown restrictions set to gradually ease over the coming months they will be opening back up as soon as it is safe to do so in line with the government guidance.

“In the meantime, the team and our partners will continue to support our young people both in the place they meet outdoors and digitally to ensure they have the information and support they need.”
