No new Covid deaths for second day

WALES has reported no new deaths related to coronaviru­s for the second day in succession.

The latest daily update from Public Health Wales recorded 127 new positive cases in the last 24-hour period, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 208,119.

The infection rate across Wales is now 41.5 cases per 100,000 of population, which is slightly down from 41.8 on Monday.

Merthyr saw the highest number of new cases reported yesterday with 15 followed by Flintshire with 13, Neath Port Talbot with 12, and RCT and Swansea with eight.

Newport had seven new cases, Blaenau Gwent, Anglesey, Conwy and Powys all had six, Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan had five, Carmarthen­shire had four, Torfaen, Caerphilly, Denbighshi­re and Wrexham had three, Pembrokesh­ire had two, and Monmouthsh­ire, Ceredigion and Gwynedd had one. Bridgend reported no new coronaviru­s cases in the last 24 hours.

■ Anglesey: 107.1 (unchanged)

■ Flintshire: 75.6 (up from 66.6)

■ Blaenau Gwent: 61.5 (down from 65.8)

■ Conwy: 59.7 (down from 68.3)

■ Swansea: 56.7 (up from 54.7)

■ Newport: 55 (up from 52.4)

■ Gwynedd: 46.6 (down from 49.8)

■ Caerphilly: 46.4 (up from 44.7)

■ Neath Port Talbot: 45.4 (up from 44)

■ Vale of Glamorgan: 43.4 (up from 42.7)

■ Carmarthen­shire: 36 (down from 36.6)

■ Wrexham: 33.8 (down from 34.6)

■ Pembrokesh­ire: 31.8 (up from 27)
