Student lands £10k boost for studies
A SWANSEA University student is one of only four students nationwide to secure a grant of £10,000 after taking part in a new personal and professional development learning initiative.
Ryan Lysycia, a student at the university’s Hillary Clinton School of Law, along with 19 other students from the university, took part in the Santander Student Online Selfdevelopment Programme, an eight-hour online course.
This year, 1,386 students from 73 universities nationwide took part in the course which focused on performance themes including personal drive, learning mindset, confidence, and many more.
Once finishing each module, students had the opportunity to consolidate their learning by completing an online quiz. The four winning students were awarded a Santander development grant of £10,000 each, that they can use to support their professional or personal development.
Ryan said: “I am grateful that I had the opportunity to access the insights presented in this programme, such as the influence of a growth mindset, how to learn from our mistakes and the significance of effective goal setting.
“For me, the grant is an investment in my future career and will contribute towards the next level of my education: the legal practice course. I look forward to applying the skills developed from the selfdevelopment programme in my aspirations as a lawyer.”
Director of Santander Universities UK, Matt Hutnell said: “I would like to congratulate Ryan and I hope that he has taken great value from the programme and is looking forward to implementing his learning from the insights he gained, in both his personal and professional life.”
