Pharmacy’s ‘hole in the wall’ for medicines

-

A PHARMACY in Gorseinon has installed a new system for collecting dispensed medicines from the pharmacy.

The new dispensing machine at Ty’r Felin Pharmacy in Cecil Road works just like the ATM cash dispensers at banks.

All the patient needs to do is organise their prescription to be collected by Ty’r Felin.

The prescription will be dispensed and loaded up into the new machine and the patient will be sent a text with their own code.

The patient can then collect their bag of medicines from the dispensing machine at any time they wish, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The new system should be a boost for patients in the Gorseinon area who no longer need to queue outside the pharmacy.

Eileen Davies, superintendent pharmacist at Ty’r

Felin Pharmacy, said: “It has been a very stressful situation during this pandemic year, where back in March and April of last year some patients had to queue up to two hours outside to collect their medicines.

“We have also felt terrible watching our customers having to queue in all weathers during winter.

“Now they can collect at any time they wish. Anyone who would like to use the new system is asked to pop into the pharmacy just once to organise the paperwork.

“We will then show you how the dispensing machine works. Then you will receive a text from us once your medicines are ready for collection.”

Rhodri Irving, pharmacist at Ty’r Felin, said he was really excited about this innovation and looked forward to helping patients benefit from it.
