Future can wait, says Bale as he focuses on Wales qualifier

-

GARETH Bale will hold talks with his agent in the summer in a bid to determine where he will play his football next season.

The Wales star is currently on loan at Tottenham Hotspur, but will return to Real Madrid in the summer.

Following the conclusion of the 2020-21 campaign, Bale will have just one year left to run on his contract with the La Liga giants.

And the Cardiff-born ace admits he’s planning to use the final weeks of the campaign to ensure he reaches peak fitness for this summer’s European Championships before planning on what the future holds for his club career.

“For me, first and foremost, I still have this season and have plenty of games to go until the Euros,” said the 31-year-old.

“Going into next season, legally my contract says I have to go back to Real Madrid, which is what I stated.

“I don’t think it’s being disrespectful to anybody.

“Real Madrid are my parent club, and as far as I agreed I was at Tottenham on loan until the end of the season and then I’d go back. That’s the plan so far.

“The reason I left is because I wanted to play games to get match fit, and obviously, come the summer, I will be going back to Real Madrid and we’ll go from there.

“Of course I want to be playing. Other things might get in the way which in football, it’s not just about what you want, it’s the other side.

“I’m concentrating on this season and we have a big game tonight, a big end to the season with Tottenham and obviously the Euros in the summer.

“At the moment, I don’t need to worry about anything else apart from this season, and regarding next season, after the Euros and my summer holiday I’ll sit down and do something then and hopefully come up with a solution.”
