HERE’S a first look at Swansea’s new tapas bar, which is due to open in a few weeks – with an adult ball pit inside.

Adam Holding is giving foodies a taste of what they can expect of the Tapas Bar and Ball Pit venue in High Street, right down to its stunning colour scheme.

The Llanelli businessman, 28, who already runs The Foodie Room Bakery right next door, said he was counting down to being able to open its doors, Covid restrictions permitting.

But people wishing to dive into the ball pit will have to wait until next year to plunge in.

Adam said: “At the moment we are giving a sneak preview.

“I am hoping on April 27 we will do some outside seating, it’s obviously pending on Covid.

“That is the timeframe when we are set to do tapas and cocktails outside.

“We can’t give an exact date, maybe they will give an announcement on hospitality,” he added in relation to the planned briefing from First Minister

‘‘ It’s amazing how it’s happened, we have gone for a tropical rainforest feel and supported local businesses along the way, it’s what we wanted to do

Mark Drakeford on the latest easing of lockdown restrictions.

Adam hopes indoor seating will be permitted by the end of May.

“The ball pit is being pretty much built but that will not happen until 2022,” he said.

The new restaurant has

a tropical feel and will have a maximum capacity for 60 people.

The venue is already attracting fans with its bright colour scheme and its promise of a mix of cocktails and tapas.

“We have picked three colours to tie in with The Foodie Room Bakery of

pink, yellow and teal.

“It’s been a creation of my mind overworking.

“It’s amazing how it’s happened, we have gone for a tropical rainforest feel and supported local businesses along the way, it’s what we wanted to do.

“A girl from Carmarthen has done some wall art – she’s done a really good job. It’s all looking good.”

He added: “We have a massive student customer base and we have 70% women and 30% men.

“In the future we are looking to have private parties so someone can book the venue out.

“There’s going to be background music but no live music.”

He first came up with the idea on Valentine’s Day last year after taking a trip to London.

Adam seized the chance to set up his own bakery in High Street during the pandemic and snapped up the unit next door for his latest venture.

He said: “On Valentine’s Day just before lockdown, I went to London and saw this idea. I thought it could work in Swansea.

“During lockdown I saw these units were empty in Swansea.

“I went for the small one and turned it into a bakery and that has been incredible over lockdown.”

He said he is looking to hook up with Swansea Eat, which has been helping to promote city-based firms.

A booking system is being put in place at the venue.

He said: “We are not going to turn people away but hopefully they will book.”
