Drug dealer caught red-handed selling to women on street

A DRUG dealer was caught red-handed selling heroin and cocaine on the street in the middle of the day.

Police officers saw Anthony Issac produce wraps of the Class A drugs from his mouth and hand them to customers.

Swansea Crown Court heard Issac, who has been a drug user for two decades, is “anxious to be able to play a positive part” in his son’s life – but that there is little realistic prospect of rehabilitation at the moment.

Helen Randall, prosecuting, said at around 12.15pm on July 12 last year two police constables on patrol on Pentregethin Road in Cwmbwrla, Swansea, saw a male – now known to be Issac – approach two women who were waiting on the street.

She said the officers saw 40-year-old Issac “produce items from his mouth and hand them to the women in return for cash”.

The PCS moved in and arrested Issac, and when searched was found to be in possession of half-adozen wraps of heroin and cocaine along with a mobile phone and a quantity of cash.

Issac, who also goes by the name Anthony Sherman Green, of Penmaen Terrace, Mount Pleasant, Swansea had previously pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine and heroin with intent to supply when he appeared in the dock for sentencing.

He has 11 previous convictions for 18 offences

including for possession of a knife, motoring matters, offences of dishonesty and possession of drugs.

Andrew Evans, for Issac, said his client’s case was “an almost classic example of an offender who became involved in supply to fund his own habit”.

He said at the time of his arrest the defendant was homeless following the breakdown of a relationship, and his life was declining “fairly rapidly”. However, he said Issac was willing to engage with any help that was offered to him, and he is “anxious to be able to play an active part in his son’s life”.

Recorder Ifan

Wyn

Lloyd Jones said it was clear from a probation report into the defendant that he had been a user of drugs – including heroin and crack – for 20 years, and there “is no realistic prospect of rehabilitation at this time”.

Giving the defendant a 25% discount for his guilty pleas the recorder sentenced him to 40 months in prison comprising 40 months for each of the two offences to run concurrently. Issac will serve up to half that period in custody before being released on licence under the UK Government’s early release scheme to serve the remainder in the community.
