Luxury Winnebago a real home from home

A LUXURY motorhome with a water bed, American fridge freezer and a built-in washing machine could be yours for the same price as a terraced house.

The 39ft-long 2007 Winnebago Median Itasca is originally from America but arrived in the UK after initially being bought by a lottery

winner. It has enough room to sleep six people and comes with a whole host of facilities, making it a real home from home with a fitted kitchen, washing machine and tumble dryer, shower and built-in 5G all on offer.

Last year, Mark Evans, from Ystradgynlais, made the decision to buy the huge vehicle to be able to travel around the UK with his family, when coronavirus restrictions

allowed it, instead of going abroad as they would have done in normal circumstances.

The 61-year-old said: “It was bought by a lottery winner who didn’t use it hardly at all. It was parked up in a great big garage so that’s why the mileage is so low at 24,000 miles.

“We have got a place in Spain but with Covid we bought it as a way of using it in the UK but we are coming out of lockdown now so we will probably go back to holidays abroad in Spain.

“It’s kept us sane all through lockdown because even when we couldn’t travel we could just go into it.

“It’s very comfortable and it’s got everything that you can think of.”

Although it was originally worth £350,000, Mr Evans is selling it for £89,500, which is considerably less but still the same price as some terrace houses currently on the market in Wales.

The motorhome has three slide-outs for added space, while a master bedroom not only boasts a double bed but built-in wardrobes too.

Its fitted kitchen features a built-in cooker, microwave, sink and plenty of storage, as well as an American-style fridge freezer which comes with an ice machine. And when you decide to park up and relax, there’s even Netflix onboard too.

“We take our four grandchildren with us and you pull up to a site and it’s so easy,” Mr Evans added.

“We take an electric car with us as well which we can plug into the side of the motorhome and it charges it up.” ■
