CAROLINE JONES - INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE

SOUTH WALES WEST REGION

-

Since being elected to the Senedd in 2016 it has been an honour to represent you. During my term, the Welsh Parliament has sat 311 times. I have made 364 speeches and asked 450 oral questions on behalf of constituents. I support devolution but in its current form devolution is not working for the people of Wales. For too long elected Politicians from Labour, Conservatives and Plaid Cymru have put their political parties first rather than the interests of residents in communities across Wales.

I strongly believe that Independent Candidates are best placed to give the people of Wales a voice in the Senedd because divisive politics by the three main parties has failed to deliver improvements to communities and local people’s lives. Despite 22 years of devolved government, Wales has not seen great strides forward, the people of South Wales West have not reaped the benefits. This is not a failure of devolution; it is a failure of party politics. Far too often Wales’ politicians have put the needs of their party before the needs of the people of Wales.

As an independent, my only loyalty is to you. I will only ever represent you, not my political masters. or party donors. I pride myself on my community engagement - meeting with the residents whom I represent is my number one priority so that I can effectively reflect your views.

My Pledges to You: Creating a Sustainable NHS.

1. Training sufficient

doctors and nurses 2. Halt the reduction of

hospital beds 3. Integration of health

and social care 4. Mental health to be given the same priority as physical health.

Growth and Development Post Covid

We must decarbonise our energy and transport infrastructure so that home grown businesses can grow and develop in a sustainable way. We must build a thriving Wales that is ready to meet future challenges.

Infrastructure in Wales and why it is substandard.

The M4 Relief Road and universal superfast broadband did not come to fruition with the Welsh Labour Government. The Tories reneged on electrification of the railway line to Swansea. EU Structural funds of billions of pounds were squandered on vanity projects. Wales deserves better and needs better.

We must Address Poverty and Inequality in Wales Armed Forces

Ensure our Veterans are supported fully when leaving the Armed Forces. Housing, PTSD support and ensuring that NO Veteran is to be persecuted after they leave the Armed Forces.

Education

Maintain and invest in our community schools. Protect them and put an end to children commuting long distances. All children should receive a well-rounded education that meets the needs of employers in an enterprising Wales.
