West stays red as share of vote increases by 5.77%
LABOUR’S Julie James held Swansea West with a majority of 6,521.
She has increased her share of the vote since 2016, with more than 46% of the votes, up almost 6%.
The Conservatives also increased their share of the vote, with 4,605 votes (19.19%). This is up by almost 1.5%.
Labour has always represented Swansea West and Welsh Government cabinet member Julie James was first elected in 2011.
In 2016 she secured more than 40% of the vote share. The nearest challenger was the Conservative candidate. Pre-election, Ms James said she works closely with the local council in delivering rejuvenation projects like the digital arena and stateof-the-art affordable housing across Swansea.
The constituency is also represented by Labour in Westminster by Geraint Davies.
