Life-saving charity to reopen shop

-

WALES Air Ambulance’s Mumbles charity shop is reopening next week, after initially being forced to close due to the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020.

The store on Newton Road will open on Wednesday, October 27 between 9.30am and 4.30pm and each week from Tuesday to Saturday from 9.30am to 4.30pm.

The decision follows the successful reopening of Wales Air Ambulance’s shops across Wales.

Following government guidelines, anyone over the age of 11 will be required to wear a face covering in the Mumbles charity shop, apart from those who have an exemption from wearing them.

The charity’s joint head of retail, Rhys Richards, said: “We have gradually opened our charity shops throughout Wales and are delighted to be able to reopen the doors of our Mumbles store after it was forced to during the original pandemic. Our charity shops that have already opened are doing extremely well and we hope the Mumbles store will be just as successful.

“We’d like to thank our customers for their patience for waiting for the store to reopen. Without you, our lifesaving service would not exist.”

Wales Air Ambulance has four aircraft based across Wales, in Dafen, Caernarfon, Welshpool and Cardiff. Now operational 24/7, the charity needs to raise £8 million every year to keep the helicopters flying.

Wales Air Ambulance is often described as a ‘Flying ED’. The on-board consultants and critical care practitioners are highly skilled and carry some of the most pioneering medical equipment in the world. They can deliver blood transfusions, administer anaesthesia and undertake emergency operations at the scene of the incident, before flying the patient to specialist care.
