New policing plan aims to put victims at heart of decisions
POLICE and crime commissioner for the Dyfed-powys area Dafydd Llywelyn has launched a public consultation on policing priorities and police funding – giving the public the opportunity to influence vital policing decisions.
Residents and businesses across Dyfed-powys will have until November 30 to have their final say on the police and crime commissioner’s draft Police and Crime Plan, as well as the police precept level for next financial year.
The commissioner’s policing priorities for 2021-25 are set out in his Police and Crime Plan.
In the draft plan, Mr Llywelyn commits to ensuring victims are at the heart of every decision, with a specific focus on understanding victims’ views, taking trauma-informed approaches and looking at community-based solutions.
In launching the consultation, he said: “Feedback from the public, together with research and assessments of local needs, resources and priorities have enabled me to set out policing priorities for our local communities.
“I am urging the communities of the Dyfed-powys area to voice your opinions on these important issues to ensure that the force can continue to safeguard its communities with the highest standard of service available.
“Set out within my plan is my overarching vision for 2021-25 for the communities of Dyfed-powys to be safe places to live and work, where people, particularly victims, are supported to build resilience and trusting and being confident in their policing and criminal justice services.”
Mr Llywelyn is also in the process of establishing the budget for local policing for the 2022-23 financial year as he awaits the Government’s Police Grant settlement.
