Martin hoping Swans can continue proud record as they look to bounce back

-

SWANSEA City return to Championship action today with Peterborough United the visitors to the Swansea. com Stadium (3pm).

Swansea have a fully-fit squad to choose from ahead of Saturday’s clash, with Flynn Downes back in contention after a recent hamstring worry.

Striker Michael Obafemi is still bidding for full fitness despite netting against Birmingham last time out.

Peterborough are set to welcome back striker Jonson Clarke-harris from a four-match ban, while attacking midfielder Kwame Poku could also return after picking up a knock to the knee.

Swansea boss Russell Martin said: “Our home record is something to be proud of, we came out on the wrong side of it once early on against Stoke, but we enjoy being there. The support we get is fantastic, as was the case with the away following at Birmingham with the way they responded to the guys even after a defeat.

“That means a lot to us and we cannot wait to get back home and we are looking forward to being in front of our crowd and hopefully putting on a performance to match the last two we have put on at home.

“We have to focus on training and preparing and taking it one step at a time, but I am pleased with the progress we have made.”

Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson is wary on the Swans’ style. He said: “Swansea are a possession-based side, they have always had that identify and in Russell Martin, they have a manager who likes to play that way.

“He did it at Milton Keynes Dons and nothing much has changed in terms of the style.”
