Grand boost for equipment for young people’s group
A SWANSEA group which provides free wellbeing sessions for young people with additional learning needs and disabilities has received a financial boost from a local housebuilder.
Cando Connect CIC, based on Princess Way, is celebrating after receiving £1,000 from Persimmon Homes West Wales.
The money comes as part of the housebuilder’s Community Champions scheme. Each and every month Persimmon donates up to £64,000 to good causes across the UK.
The cash will be used to buy new equipment for the sessions.
Samantha Nicholson, of Cando Connect CIC, said: “This donation is fantastic news for us. We are extremely grateful to Persimmon Homes for their generosity.
“We are raising money to buy new exercise equipment such as a new sound system, exercise balls, exercise mats, pilates balls and agility ladders so we can provide a range of activities to meet the needs of all our users.
“We also want to extend the number of activities available to children and teens during holidays, when families are isolated due to the lack of opportunities.
“It’s brilliant to see Persimmon supporting local communities like this.”
Sharon Bouhali, sales director at Persimmon Homes West Wales, said: “We are delighted to be able to support Cando Connect CIC.
“It’s really tough for parents of young people, particularly those with additional learning needs or disabilities. Groups like this make the world of difference by providing structured sessions which are really beneficial for all involved.”
Persimmon Homes has recently launched its new Llys Ystrad development on Llangewydd Road in Bridgend.
