Former Swans pair failing to cut it at the Blades

-

CONCERNS have been raised over the fortunes of former Swansea pair Conor Hourihane and Rhian Brewster at Sheffield United.

Brewster is yet to net a league goal for the Blades since completing a £23m switch to Bramall Lane from Liverpool last year.

As for Hourihane, he has started just twice since joining Slavisa Jokanovic’s side on loan from Aston Villa.

The Serbian manager recently admitted he is eager to add two wingers and a holding midfielder to his ranks in the January window, with speculation mounting that Hourihane’s loan spell could be prematurely ended while Brewster could potentially be sent out on loan.

Brewster scored 11 goals in 22 appearances for Swansea while Hourihane netted five times in 24 outings for the Swans, although four of those came in his first seven games for Steve Cooper’s side.

The striker has been linked with a reunion with his former boss at Nottingham Forest.

Sheffield United also have former

Swansea pair Morgan Gibbs-white and Oli Mcburnie in their ranks along with the club’s ex-youth product Rhys Norrington-davies.

Byron Anthony has been appointed as Bristol Rovers’ head of academy coaching just days after departing Swansea City.

The 37-year-old officially left his role as Swansea’s Under-18s coach last week, but has re-joined the club he spent six years with as a player.

Writing on Twitter, Anthony said: “Thank you all for the kind messages.

I am excited to be back at Bristol Rovers and really looking forward to getting down to work.

“Hopefully see you all at the next home game.”

Anthony started his professional career with Cardiff City but joined Bristol Rovers following a loan spell at Forest Green Rovers.

He then spent two seasons at Newport County following a spell with Hereford United. Anthony had eight months in his post at Swansea this year having joined the club in February.
