MARTIN: SPOT-KICK CALLS JUST KEEP GOING AGAINST US

- TOM COLEMAN Football writer tom.coleman@walesonline.co.uk

“We seem to be building up to what appears to be a definite penalty here (the third challenge from James Husband on Laird).

“There’s contact there just after Laird takes the ball away from James Husband and he just gets a nick there and for me, that should be a penalty.

“It was at 1-0 as well, so it was a crucial time in the game.”

Mcanuff and Quest host Colin Murray also reserved praise for goalscorer Piroe.

The Dutchman has hit the ground running in South Wales since his £1 million move from PSV and both Murray and Mcanuff purred over the 22-year-old’s strike against the Tangerines.

“In young Joel Piroe they have, for me, just uncovered a genuine star,” said Murray.

“What is he, 22 years old? That’s his 10th goal and he never played Championship football before.”

Mcanuff added: “He is an absolute real find. The missing piece for Russell Martin and how he wants to play and that person who can really go and finish those chances off. Fantastic

performance again”

Talking of the goal, Mcanuff added “We talk about a piece of individual brilliance where he just shifts it out of his foot and puts it into the top corner. Fantastic, fantastic.”

With tongue in cheek, Murray finished: “The only downside to him, he is dishonest. I have to say that on national TV. He claims to be left-footed... I am calling shenanigans on that.

“I don’t think you can be left-footed and score five goals with your right foot this so far this season.”
