Albies stay in title hunt after easing past Bont

EVANS & Williams bounced back to form as they comfortably beat the improving Pontarddulais Town 4-1 to maintain their interest at the top of the West Wales Premier League.

The Llanelli side were inspired by former Cwmamman United player Sean Howells.

The outcome was barely in doubt from the 40th minute when the Albies went three up through Jon Fagan after earlier strikes from Bruno Forkuoh and Mark Howells, his 10th league goal of the season.

A well-executed Cameron Davies goal – his seventh of the season – just before half-time offered Bont a glimmer of hope until Forkuoh grabbed his second late on. Pontarddulais Town: W Walters, D Abramo, I Rees, N John, C Davies, J Beynon, S Harris, L Benton, S Robinson, I Rees, B Brandon. Subs: E Stocks, L Lewis, J Harding.

Evans & Williams: S Bouse, M Howells, R Jones, S Howells, B Williams, P Tinnuche, J Fagan, K Brown, R Lewis, B Forkuoh, N Jones. Subs: W Gregory-diana, T Lavender, R Johns, D Greene.

Penlan Club were expecting a tough challenge at Mynydd Newydd from visiting Giants Grave, but forward Sam Lewis had other ideas as his first-half hat-trick swept Grave aside.

Jordan Doyle added a fourth with Calum Palla replying for Grave. It was just their second defeat in their last seven matches.

Substitute Ashleigh Harries netted a late fifth goal for Penlan, who are now odds-on to lift the title.

Meanwhile, South Gower remain in second place and very much in the hunt after a comfortable 3-0 win against Cwm Wanderers, who deserve praise for their strong second-half showing.

Two goals from the dangerous Jack Jones, taking his total to nine in the league, and a clinical finish from the in-form Kieran Savage put the Scurlage side 3-0 up at the break.

Dafen Welfare gave another good account of themselves against difficult opponents Seven Sisters Onllwyn, who were able to grind out another valuable three points in their quest for honours.

An early Ross Newell goal for the

visitors was cancelled out by Sam Evans in the second half for Dafen, who were unfortunate to lose out to a late goal from Seven Sisters substitute Jack Owen with two minutes left.

Mumbles Rangers’ game at home to Morriston Town was postponed.

This Saturday Evans & Williams take on Seven Sisters Onllwyn in what should be an interesting contest.
