ONE surefire sign of a show’s success is its move from BBC2 to BBC1.

And that’s exactly what has happened to Interior Design Masters for its third series.

“It’s bigger, bolder and more dynamic and I think with the move from BBC2 to BBC1, it’s acquired an added confidence,” says host Alan Carr.

“The challenges in this series are tough from the outset so the designers have to really think on their feet, even from episode one. There is absolutely no mucking about, Interior Design Masters this series means business.”

With just six designers remaining after last week’s double elimination, the competition is hotting up.

It’s shops week and the queen of retail herself, Mary Por

tas, is on hand to help to judge the aspiring designers. Known for her straighttalking no-nonsense approach, she knows what makes the shoppers hit the high street rather than shop online. The hopefuls are off to the cathedral city of Salisbury to transform three very different shops. Working in pairs, they must give three retail businesses a new lease of life.

But before they hit the high street, they must first meet up with their clients and take it in turns to pitch their design ideas.

The three businesses are a bridal shop, a homeware shop and a lingerie shop – but one contestant isn’t too happy with the business they’ve been assigned to.

And one designer from each pairing will be chosen to lead on the overall design, so whoever loses the pitch will have to act as a mere assistant.

Says Alan: “Is it me or is it getting tense now?”
