Easter at the races to offer great family experience

-

FFOS Las Racecourse in Carmarthenshire is ready to welcome the crowds for its Easter Sunday celebrations on April 17.

The Easter Eggstravaganza Family Funday will mix horse racing with a range of entertainment for all the family.

Along with seven horse races there is plenty happening off the track, including characters from the Harry Potter books and films such as Harry himself, Hagrid, Dumbledore, Snape and the Sorting Hat, who will be performing throughout the day.

There will also be funfair rides, bouncy castles, go karts, face painting and ice cream for the first 150 children through the gates which open at 11am.

Parking at the racecourse is also free on the day.

Bosses at Ffos Las, which is located near Trimsaran, said they cannot think of a better way to spend Easter Sunday than enjoying an afternoon of jump racing. Nothing beats the thrill of watching live jump racing as thundering hooves fly past towards the finish.

It is the perfect excuse to get family and friends together to enjoy food and drinks, plus under-18s have free entry.

There really will be something for everyone on the day.

Ffos Las executive director Phil Bell said: “Easter Sunday is a big day for us, we have spent a lot of money on entertainment which is all free for families.

“The big message from me is that we’ve got funfair rides, Harry Potter characters and bouncy castles, Easter egg hunt, lots going on, but it’s all free once you come onto the racecourse.

He added: “Easter is always popular but especially after the difficult two years of the pandemic this is one the first big weekends of the year for Ffos Las and it promises to be great for everyone.

“We have a fantastic day ahead and I’m looking forward to welcoming customers to the course.”

Turning to the horse racing, the first race will start at 1pm and see seven jump races with the last scheduled to take place at 4.25pm.

Ticket options and prices can be found on the Ffos Las Racecourse website at https://www.ffoslasracecourse.co.uk/whats-on/eastersunday-17th-april, with the opportunity to upgrade to one of the course’s exclusive restaurant or hospitality packages.

Looking further ahead to May 28, the course will hold its Beer and Cider Festival Race Night with a DJ set after the horses have run.

While on June 2, rock band Kaiser Chiefs will perform at the racecourse.

Recently Mr Bell spoke about the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and how Ffos Las had weathered the storm.
