Centre invests in carts to expand fun for kids

AN INDOOR and outdoor carting track is to be installed at a popular family destination in Gower.

Perriswood Archery and Falconry Centre has expanded its family entertainment offering of archery, air rifles, bird of prey displays and airsoft shooting with a new carting option and the return of a competition.

Enabled for use both indoors and outdoors, children aged four to 12 will be able to get behind the wheel in a safe environment as the centre invests in creating the perfect day out for all ages.

Plans are still being finalised but the arrival of the new attraction is set to be introduced at Easter, accompanied by the return of the centre’s “Golden Shot” competition.

The family-run business acknowledged the past months had been “extremely difficult” financially as it had to navigate through two pandemics – Covid-19 and then Avian Bird Flu.

Despite these obstacles, Perriswood Archery and Falconry Centre has committed to maintaining its activity prices for the coming year, as opposed to raising them – arguing “families need it”.

“We’re a family-run business and other families mean so much to us, we feel they need as much as possible to return to normal and we hope that in turn that helps us,” said centre owner Brian Williams.

“We wanted to just offer an alternative activity for the younger customers, give them something different and let them have a go.

“It has been an absolute horrific two years and we are still being affected by that. It hasn’t been easy but we have got a bit more confidence in where we are today and that is why we have chosen to invest; it’s the perfect time for us to try and help families return to normal.”

The “Golden Shot” competition was an opportunity to win a solid gold ring if the archer lands a perfect shot into a tiny wedding ring circle on a target.

The competition is now marking its return with a new prize – a gold sovereign coin sponsored by Cash4gold, worth £160, increasing to £320 if the customer is able to repeat the winning shot a second time.

Mr Williams said: “We have had people from 13 years ago come back to us still wearing theirs to this day, it’s great to be able to bring that back.

“We are operating the coming year at a far bigger cost but we just can’t possibly put that on other families. We made the decision as a family-run business to not put our prices

up – we want to help.”
