WITH only four games remaining in this season’s Swansea & District Table Tennis League, last year’s premier division champions Penyrheol A are making a bold bid to retain their title. Last week’s 27-0 victory over strugglers Cam Gears B moved them 12 points clear.

Port Talbot Gas Club A maintained second place following their 24-7 win over Cam Gears A, Dean Cundy winning 9-0 and Scott Cundy 9-1.

Penlan B lost ground in third place after being beaten 23-16 by Carmarthen A, for whom David Lloyd won 9-4.

The closest game of the night saw fourth-placed Penlan A just hold on to that position despite being beaten 17-15 by fifth-placed Carmarthen B. Harri Docherty won 9-0 for Carmarthen.

Carmarthen D made a big bid for survival when beating Carmarthen C 20-13 thanks to Mike Fischetti winning 9-2, while Betws Rugby Club maintained their mid-table position with a 27-0 win over Port Talbot Gas Club B.
