Evans century helps Pontyberem to a whitewash success

KIERAN Evans fired in a century as Pontyberem Workmen’s enjoyed one of their best victories in a long while in division one of the Llanelli Snooker League. They thumped Cross Hands B 7-0, with the undoubted highlight a superb 105 clearance from Evans in his frame.

Adding winning support were Shaun Caton, Paul Rees, Emyr Bowen, Kevin Selwood and Alun Harris.

Trimsaran dropped just the single frame to Llanesco’s Richard Lloyd in winning 6-1. Kieran Proctor, Jamie Tudor, Lee Holland, Colin Foreman and Carl Thomas all won for the home side.

It was far closer as Pontarddul­ais Workmen’s edged a 4-3 win against Burry Port Legion thanks to Keri Davies, Steve Dunn and Chris Griffiths. James White, Rich Nurse and Garnet Lane replied.

A busy Bont side also took on league leaders Matchroom Reds in a rearranged fixture, losing 4-3. Keri Davies, Steve Dunn and Chris Marston were on top. Reds’ frame-winners were Richard Evans, Phil Williams and Brian Newcombe.

Kevin Lewis and Howard Thomas won for Ponthenri Social as the bottom side went down 5-2 to Gorseinon Workmen’s. Mike Dodd, Charlie Bolton, Johnny Wilcox and Roy Wilcox replied.

Matchroom Whites, for whom Dai Keenan, Shaun Keenan, Ashley Edwards and Tom Twigg won, beat Reading Room Blues 5-2. Adrian Gower and Peter Kelly replied.

Callum Jackson, Anthony Krysa, Andrew Whitfield and Ben Thomas gave Snooker World Whites a fine 5-2 victory at Morfa. Phil Matthews and Barry Follows won for the home side.

In division two, Matchroom Blacks maintained their push at the top with a 6-1 victory against Upper Tumble Reds courtesy of Nathan Brain, Rhys Morgans, Thomas Williams, Shane Williams and Adrian Davies. Steff Lewis prevented a whitewash.

Cross Hands A went one better with a 7-0 victory against Llandybie Social B thanks to Jeff Howells, Howell Pritchard, Adam Rees, Elwyn Williams, Matthew James and Gerald Evans.

Phil Payne and Gary Hire won for Burry Port Reading Room Reds in a 5-2 defeat at Snooker World Blues, for whom Peter Howatson (25 cl), Callum Fuge, Jac Evans and Steff Rees won.

Tycroes RFC needed the aggregate point to edge a 4-3 success against New Lodge after Marc Walters, Stu Williams and Steve Ruck had won. Gary Williams, Phil Eyers and George Langford replied.

Leaders Gremlins suffered a surprising defeat at Bryn & Trallwm A, for whom Justin Jones, Clive Richards, Corey Jenkins and Roy Richards struck. R Barney and G Stollery hit back for the high-flyers.

In a rearranged match, Paul Landek and Ray Evans won for CGMD Glanaman in a 5-2 defeat at Matchroom Blacks. James Anthony, Rhys Morgan, Ryan Maides and Shane Williams won for Blacks.
