Charity’s efforts to aid disadvantaged praised
ABERAVON MP and Shadow Minister for Immigration Stephen Kinnock welcomed humanitarian aid charity Goods For Good to Westminster as they announced a new initiative for Wales.
The initiative is based in Mr Kinnock’s Aberavon constituency.
Since inception in 2014, the small but impactful charity has been responsible for distributing £34 million of aid to 25 countries, across four continents, supporting more than 3.32 million people in need.
At the forefront of humanitarian aid efforts that ease human suffering, the Hertfordshire-based charity has already organised and sent more than 40 truckloads of food, bedding, first aid, toiletries and personal hygiene products to Ukraine for those refugees fleeing the consequences of war.
Despite these efforts, the charity has found time to establish a new initiative for Wales, distributing more than £30,000 of goods and equipment in less than eight weeks, pre and post-christmas to the most deprived and disadvantaged families in Mr Kinnock’s Aberavon constituency.
“Need has no boundaries,” said Good For Good founder Rosalind Bluestone. “Goods For Good exists to support vulnerable people in need wherever they are. Through our network of over 73 charity partners, we support those who are homeless, isolated, disadvantaged, deprived and have physical or intellectual disabilities as well as refugees and asylum seekers fleeing conflict and persecution.
“We are fortunate to have found a very proactive partner in A2B CIC and through them we will be able to redouble our efforts in the Neath Port Talbot county borough, across the larger Swansea Bay area and throughout Wales via a proposed network of 23 charity partners.”
Welcoming the charity to Westminster for their visit, Mr Kinnock congratulated them on their efforts in support of the Ukraine crisis, thanked them for their work in his constituency and saluted their decision to centre their Welsh operation in Neath Port Talbot.
The MP said: “Since becoming MP for Aberavon, I have endeavoured to support and encourage the work of third sector organisations, recognising as I do the enormous value they bring to our community. I am delighted to welcome Goods For Good to Westminster to commend them on their work in Ukraine and for the disadvantaged people in Aberavon – through their partnership with Port Talbotbased not-for-profit community interest company A2B CIC.
“Goods for Good have provided a vital lifeline to individuals and families in crisis. The meaningful work of charities like Goods For Good will remain vital for the most vulnerable. Its work is great news for my constituency and NPT in general.”
