Kris keeps Rangers out with a superb goalkeeping display

-

CLUB stalwart Kris Pemberton dusted off his goalkeeping gloves for only the second time this season for midtable Giants Grave as he helped them gain a point from a 0-0 draw at home to Mumbles Rangers.

Pemberton, who is also the Grave club secretary, was playing his first game for seven months.

The experienced keeper produced a clean sheet, helped by some poor finishing from Rangers, while he made a fine save from a Colin Harris free-kick. Elliot Smith netted for Mumbles but his effort was ruled out for offside.

Tom Jones of Rangers came closest to scoring in the second half, although a draw was a fair result. There was a man-of-the-match display from Giants Grave midfielder Ross Davies.

Mumbles need to beat Pontarddulais Town at home in their final league fixture to guarantee the runners-up spot and gain promotion to the third tier of Welsh football, for the first time in their history, if they can meet the FAW ground criteria requirements.

Dafen Welfare showed their mettle as they dented the promotion hopes of Seven Sisters Onllwyn by coming away from the Welfare Ground with a creditable 1-1 draw.

Elliott Jones was again on the scoresheet for Dafen, who led 1-0 at half-time. Nathan Jones equalised for the Neath side, who remain in contention for the runners-up spot and have a West Wales Cup semi-final to come against favourites Hakin United.

South Gower may have slipped up recently but they returned to form with a comfortable 6-0 thrashing of a CK Swiss Valley side who featured several players from their reserve teams. Gower top scorer Jack Jones netted two, with their other goals coming from Jason Heath, Morgan Lucas, Jack Dixon and Owen Evans.

Penlan Club have enjoyed an exceptional season and remain unbeaten in the league. They won 4-1 at Cwm Wanderers which gave them the opportunity of winning the title at home to South Gower last night.

Their scorers were Sam Lewis (2), Nathan Lewis and free-scoring central defender Luke Edwards weighed in again. Cwm replied through striker Oliver Ranford.
