Celebrity chefs are cooking up inspiration for The Big Jubilee Lunch, says JANE HAASE
STREET parties will be held up and down the country to mark Queen Elizabeth II’S Platinum Jubilee.
And the annual Big Lunch event has a distinctly royal flavour this year as it gets involved in the celebratory long weekend from June 2-5.
The Big Jubilee Lunch invites you to bring your neighbours and community together to share friendship, food and fun across the UK.
Great British Bake Off’s Rosie Brandreth-poynter says the best thing about the celebration is that everyone’s invited.
“We’ve been through some tough times and many of us cope with ongoing pressures – but that’s exactly why we need this chance to connect and have fun. People are ready for a knees up!
“This special moment of national community celebration has come at the right time.
“Everyone is invited to come together in their communities as we look forward to celebrating the Platinum Jubilee for the Queen and all the things we value and care about where we live. People can even make their celebrations fundraising events to support good causes."
The Big Jubilee Lunch, made possible by the National Lottery, is hoping friends, neighbours and communities across the UK will bust out the bunting and come together over a bite to eat.
“It could be a street party, a group picnic in the local park, a community barbecue in the garden or simply raising a cup of tea to neighbours from the doorstep,” suggests Rosie, who appeared on the Channel 4 baking competition in 2019.
“Whatever you decide to do, it’s the perfect excuse to try out some new recipes and share a gettogether over food.
